LeComte, President and CEO DIVISION OF INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS CDC's Division of International Business works in conjunction with CDC's affiliate organization, the Ark-La-Tex Regional Export & Technology Center, Inc., to assist businesses interested in international trade. Services include: seminars and workshops, documentation information, counseling services, international financing and taxation information, and referrals to the U.S. Customs Services and the U.S. Department of Commerce's Shreveport Export Assistance Center. Special emphasis is placed on assisting Northwest Louisiana companies open new markets worldwide for their products and services. Contact Information: Diana M. Simek Through the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources and the Louisiana Association of Planning and Development Districts, this Division disseminates information on home energy conservation throughout CDC's 10-parish district. Other projects include assistance with permitting, mapping and environmental review documentation such as environmental statements and assessments, water/air quality, and wildlife. An annual assessment of environmental barriers to development is conducted and maintained. Contact Information: Gray Stothart, II The Division of Project Review reviews applications for a multitude of community and economic development projects to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and to prevent duplication and ensure coordination between interested parties. The Division also informs affected local officials of projects proposed for their area, thus giving them an opportunity to comment about a specific application if they so desire. Contact Information: Dianna Roark DIVISION OF TECHNICAL SERVICES CDC's Division of Technical Services is designed to provide a multitude of technical assistance services to bolster the economic and community growth of Northwest Louisiana. The Division's major emphasis and direction is to provide skilled staff assistance in areas ranging from helping local elected officials, staff and project personnel evaluate potential projects and their local impact to providing professional assistance in the preparation of special reports, pamphlets, brochures, maps and other printed materials. The field services offered by this Division complement and supplement CDC's field offices. Contact Information: M. D. LeComte CDC's Division of Transportation serves as a vital link to community efforts in the Ark-La-Tex region to improve the transportation network available to area businesses and citizens. On-going projects include: the expansion of I-49 from I-20 in Shreveport to the Arkansas border, the I-69 corridor through northwest Louisiana which would connect this region to Canada and Mexico, 4-laning of major highway arteries including LA Highway 1, and U.S. Highway 171 to Lake Charles. Also, this Division supports the development and expansion of port facilities along the Red River in order to provide the region's businesses and industries with an additional method of transporting their goods to national and international markets.
