COMPREHENSIVE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

Every five years The Coordinating and Development Corporation prepares a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the region served by CDC. The CEDS process involves examining our area’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Goals and objectives are formulated to take advantage of the region’s strengths and opportunities and provide solutions and recommendations to deal with our weaknesses and threats. An action plan is then developed based on the established goals and objectives.

Updates are prepared annually to document progress made during the previous year on carrying out the goals and objectives listed in the 5-year action plan. Additionally, the action plan is updated to reflect positive and negative changes that have or will impact the region’s economy development prospects.

The 5-year CEDS and the updates are under a contract with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA).

The process of developing the CEDS reports involves a CEDS Committee composed of CDC Board Members, business and community leaders, elected officials, and CDC staff members.
