Sponsored by the Biomedical Research Foundation, InterTech is a long-term technology development strategy to redevelop a triangular parcel of 2,400 acres in Shreveport, anchored by LSU Medical Center-Shreveport to the south, Schumpert Medical Center to the east and Willis- Knighton Medical Center to the west. InterTech's goals are to license technology spin-off companies from its academic sponsors and attract new and existing technology companies to locate in North Louisiana. Research Centers of Excellence are being developed in selected areas based on the technology strengths of InterTech's sponsors: biomedical healthcare delivery and biotechnology, micromanufacturing, telecommunications and information technology, and environmental technology.
